Attendance categories

We use categories to describe pupils' attendance. Below is a table of the categories we use. These categories are aligned with all schools who are part of the University of Chichester Academy Trust.

≥ 98%	Good
≥ 95% and < 98%	Concerning attendance
≥ 90% and < 95%	Seriously concerning attendance
≥ 50% and < 90%	Persistent absence
< 50%	Severely absent

Clear link between attendance and outcomes

If concerning attendance is left unchallenged, students leave school with lower grades. This restricts their opportunities as a young adult. Persistent absence from lessons over a 5-year period has a severe negative impact on students.
